A member of staff drives your car between the terminal and the parking facility. Even on a short journey, accidents or damage cannot be ruled out. Can the valet service move my car?
As part of the booked valet service, your car may be driven to its parking space and moved within the site when operationally necessary. The terms should explain which journeys are included. Any unexpected additional mileage should be discussed on collection and checked against the handover report.
Optional services such as refuelling, maintenance, car washing or EV charging may involve journeys beyond the transfer between the terminal and parking space. Agree these journeys with the provider and check that the mileage is within the expected range when your car is returned.
Important: remove valuables from your vehicle
Even if the provider is reputable and the site is well secured, always remove valuables before handing over your keys. Personal belongings such as wallets, documents, jewellery, watches or cash are generally not included in the insurance cover and may not be compensated if lost.
Who is liable for damage during valet parking?
In principle, the party that causes damage and is legally responsible for it is liable. In practice, this depends on when the damage occurred and which insurance applies.
